What Is Reiki?

  Reiki is Universal Love, a gift from Spirit sent through a person to heal people, plants, animals and the Universe.  When you lay your hands to channel Reiki, the intention to heal opens the heart and being to receive the energy from Spirit.

   A person who has been attuned to Reiki has their body's energy channels opened and cleared of any blocks.  There is an increase in the life energy or ki/chi and there is now a connection to the Universal Ki/chi.  The receiver becomes a channel for this Universal healing energy.

  Reiki has become extremely popular amongst nurses, medical doctors, hospitals, and before, during and after surgery.  It's also very beneficial in relieving the unwanted side effects of operations, chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

   Reiki sessions enable patients to heal faster with less pain.  It accelerates recovery from surgery, improves mental and emotional attitudes and reduces the negative effects of medication and other medical procedures.  Reiki can also assist with acute and chronic illnesses and pain.  It reduces pain, stress, improves circulation and can eliminate blocked nerves.

  Reiki can also reduce or eliminate the unwanted side effects of chemotherapy.  A Reiki session is helpful before and after chemotherapy, but after is more effective if experiencing only one Reiki session.  The chemo can kill or eliminate deadly cancer cells, but it also destroys some of the good life force that is needed for health.  A Reiki session can revitalize the life force and bring universal love back into the body.

  The side effects of a radiation treatment can be reduced or eliminated by a Reiki session.  It eliminates fatigue and skin irritation by filling up and realigning ones energy field.  As with chemotherapy, it's most effective after a radiation treatment and can be very helpful in between treatments.

  Reiki compliments surgery as it reduces pain and the need for pain drugs after surgery, reduces bleeding, quickens the healing process, reduces infections and recovery time.  Heart Surgeons and other doctors  are inviting Reiki Masters into the operating room during, before and after surgery.  Also, during the recovery period.  This is truly an amazing honor!

    The history of Reiki begins with Mikao Usui who was the principal of a Christian Seminary in Kyoto, Japan.  He relinquished his position when he could not demonstrate to his students their request to learn the healing method used by Jesus.  He went to America and became a Doctor of Theology, but still couldn't find the answers.

   Usui returned to Japan where he studied some Sanskirt formulas and symbols in old Buddhist Sutras.  He went to the Holy Mountain of Kuriyama to mediate and fast in solitude for 21 days in the hope of gaining contact with a level of consciousness as described in the formulas.  Oh his last day, a great white light appeared and he saw the little known Sanskirt symbols in front of him glowing in shining gold.  He stubbed his toe on the way down the mountain and discovered that when he held his toe in both his hands for a few minutes, the pain and bleeding stopped.  This was the birth of Usui's System of Reiki.

   There are Three Degrees which are given one on one, transmitted from the Reiki Master Teacher directly to the student.  The First Degree Reiki Attunement is helpful in healing physical disease in the person who receives it.  Your physical health will often change for the better in the months following the initiation.  You will learn the hand positions to channel Reiki for self healing and for others who are physically present.

   In my Reiki I Class, you will also learn more in depth about the history of Reiki, receive a manual showing the hand positions, the Reiki Principals and more about energy and healing in general.  You will also receive a certificate stating that you have been attuned to Reiki I.  Sometimes It takes about a little time to adjust to this attunement because the energy is adjusting and increasing the healer's capacity to channel it.  The aura and chakras are clearing since more ki/chi is entering the healer's aura and body than before.  Intuition may increase at this time as the person who has been attuned is now more open and connected to Spirit.

   The Second Degree Reiki Attunement increases the amount of healing energy considerably.  The attunement focuses upon emotional, mental and karmic healing in the person who receives it.  You will learn to use and to direct the three Reiki symbols.  Reiki II also teaches distance or absentee healing.  This long distance symbol transcends all space and time.  There is no past, present or future.  Healing energy can be sent to loved ones.  This energy heals the whole person and the energy will go where it is needed.  Past lives can also be released and healed with this symbol.

   After the Reiki Second Degree Attunement, many practitioners experience an increase in their intuition.  The development of psychic abilities manifests as your awareness, connection to Spirit and vibration increases.

   Again, it might take a little time to adjust to the profound changes and experiences a practitioner might be going through after this Level II Attunement.  There could be a major change in thinking and feeling differently since there is now a more expanded whole awareness of self.

   Third Degree Reiki Master/Teacher further increases the practitioner's ability to channel healing energy and to reach a higher level.  This attunement is about spiritual energy and allows spiritual healing in the person receiving it.  This energy is pure joy and oneness with Spirit and all of life.  A Master is a teacher.

   The two Master symbols are learned.  One works on the spiritual body healing level and both are used in passing attunements.  Healing on this level is very powerful since it comes from the highest source, from it's cause, since the spiritual body contains our blueprint or DNA.  A practitioner can become a Reiki Master even if there is no desire to teach.

   A Reiki Attunement is hard to describe and is better experienced since no one seems to know how it really works.  Reiki is the only touch system that uses the attunement process.  During an attunement, negative karma is lifted from the receiver, almost as a reward for becoming a healer.  It also heals our DNA.  A Reiki Master is taught how to pass attunements in the Teacher Level.  A certificate is given for each level of Reiki to the practitioner upon completion and understanding of each level.

   In the time that I have known and used Reiki, I have seen and experienced profound growth and changes in myself and in others.  I am truly honored to be able to facilitate the growth and healing of others.  I am grateful to be of service to humanity.  Reiki is a gift of Love.  

Karuna Reiki

   Karuna is a Sanskrit word used in Buddhism and Hinduism.  It is translated to mean any action that is taken to diminish another's suffering and can be translated as "compassionate action."  It is natural to extend compassionate action or karuna to everyone without distinction because we are all one.  As we want to heal our wounds, it's natural to want to heal the wounds of others.

   The Karuna Master Training is only taught to Usui Reiki Masters.  Most students find the Karuna Reiki energy more powerful than Usui Reiki.  They find the energy has a more definite feeling and works on all the energy bodies at the same time.  Students report a feeling that the energy surrounds them and the client instead of simply flowing through them.  It also has a grounding effect.  Those who receive attunements often feel more connected with their angels, guides, and higher self and the presence of other enlightened beings. 

  In the Karuna I practitioner level, the first four symbols are learned and practiced and the Karuna I attunement is received by the student.  The history and origins of Karuna Reiki are also taught.

  In the Karuna II practitioner level, the second four symbols are learned and practiced and the Karuna II attunement is received by the student. 

  In the Karuna Master I the master symbols are discussed, practiced and the student receives the Karuna Master I attunement.  Students are then taught how to do the attunement for Karuna I.  Time is allotted for practicing how to do the attunement until students have mastered them. In Karuna Master II, the attunement is transmitted to the student and again there is time to practice how to do the Karuna II attunement.
